Lancashire Police Now In Trouble For Music Piracy

Posted on June 13, 2008. Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: , , , |

Those ever-lovin’ Lancashire bobbies (yes, the same idiots I just wrote about yesterday) are in the news again, this time for playing their radios too loud!

But wait! It’s not their own noise ordinances they’ve run afoul of, but the fact that other people could hear the radio at all!

It seems that the British Performing Right Society is somewhat like the copyright police over there, except they don’t actually have any power to arrest anyone (similar to the ASCAP enforcement nuts over here, but these guys might just be worse). Anyway, in a number of recent articles, it’s been reported that the PRS has gone after the Lancashire police because members of the public can hear their radios playing, and therefore hear the music, and therefore they want money!

Irony is always ironic, but it’s just another example of Why England Sucks!
